Website: Payment Options

    Hi All,

Has anyone here ever used text payments to pay for goods or services on the internet? I hope to launch a new web service in the next month or two but one issue that keeps cropping up is payments.

I intend to charge a business a commission (finder's fee) or a standard payment...but how do I charge this?

    Should I:
    (a) Get the customer to pay it and then deduct this from the cost of the product?
    (b) Get the customer to pay ALL the money for the product and then take my fee and pass the rest on to the business?
    (c) Invoice (email or post) the business afterwards i.e. don't charge customer or business anything initially.

It all comes back to ease of use. For example, if a commission is only €3 would anyone be willing to use a credit card/PayPal for this? Hence the text payment option mentioned above. I think DoneDeal and DAFT use this. Then again, if a commission was €30 would anyone be willing to use text payments? I will have PayPal and Realex integrated but is this going to turn people off using it if it's for a small amount?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I think I'll pull my hair out if I don't get this sorted soon :)

No such thing as a €30 text option, so that might be out.Out of a €3 text message - how much will you get? VAT, Mobile operator and service provider will all be taking a slice - you might get 1.20 from it, so it not really a runner.

I'd go for option 2 (get paid up front!)
