Bought a mini dvb-t receiver on eBay and it seemed to load fine with saorview - however I get all the current channels perfectly except RTE 2 which gives me sound only. Tried channel 21 and 46 and same issue! Don't know if it is a faulty unit or something simple. Any ideas?

    Here are screenshots.

Sounds like you've got a unit that doesn't meet the Saorview RTE Two HD specifications. Not sure what your units MPEG specs are but I think that is your best possible reason.

Clue is in the name on the box - Mini SD DVB-T. RTE Two is broadcast in HD resolution so the device won't support it unfortunately:( Do you have a guarantee from the seller that it will work properly on Saorview? In which case you might get a refund.

Sam Russell who posts on this board was selling similar-looking devices - but with full HD support and HDMI connectivity - for €50 recently. I bought one and it's an excellent little unit. I don't know if he has more.

Cheers for the replies - forgot about the HD broadcast! Will check with seller and see if I can get it replaced..

The Irish DTT standard requires MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) HP@L4.0 for HD, some STB's are HP@L3.0 i.e. SD video only.

Yes, and it is still available. The box the OP bought is all over ebay and does not do HD. My box is of couse able to get all services except MHEG5 middleware.

@ OP: See my advert on adverts.ie if you want one.

I've seen the advert Sam, but I can't figure how to buy the product!
Please advise, I wish to pay by cash & collect in person (if possible).

    Regards.
