    hi,

i was just wondering do opticians fit prescription lenses into frames if you bring them in? There are some cool frames on ebay and the likes if i buy them and bring them into somewhere, will they fit them? I'm due an eye test in the next month or so, and am just curious. i usually go to specsavers...

Depends......on a few things for prescription lenses

    1) Size of the frame and your PDs
    2) Curvature of the frame
    3) Prescription & type of lens
    4) Type of frame - lots of places won't do rimless frames
    5) Is the frame strong enough - old acetate frames get weaker with age

Oh, and if breaks during fitting.....tough....your loss :(

Most shops can fit lenses into most frames. Also a lot of websites (including mine) offer this service. A lot of places will do the rimless frames too. If they don't have the machinery they can send them out to a glazing lab the same applies to wrap frames. Of course extra charges will apply to these type of frames. When you do bring in your own frame you will be informed that you are useing them at your own risk.

Brought an old frame into Opticks on South Anne St. They rang my Optician and got my prescription for me. Got my glasses and new lenses back in a couple of days. Brilliant lenses.
