If you want broadband, getting broadband from eircom/Vodafone/UTV, through a phoneline in other words, is the way to go.

Satellite internet will cost an arm and a leg to install and you'll have big restrictions on how much you can use. So no downloading of movies etc.

The mobile phone companies offer trials of a few days (how long depends on the company) for their internet subscriptions. You could try out O2 or three or Meteor that way, the coverage between them won't be identical in most places so you may find one that works well.

yeah i've heard of the costs they seem steep i wont really be downloading movies or music more like YouTube emails and browsing the internet maybe 20 hrs a week i don't mind to pay for satellite installation
like i said in previous post i've tried most broadband products and other products my friends have used all have same slow services..just have enough of them..
now if i were to pick a satellite provider which would be best for me and my location, again appreciate any replys..
    THANKS for your reply confirmed

Well that's the thing, Youtube are movies after all, just short ones. They add up over the course of a month!

I don't know much about the different satellite providers, hopefully some of the other posters can advise on that. You could search on the internet for providers and then phone around for the best deal on installs. Many of the satellite offers are companies reselling the same packages from one or two satellites but I don't know much beyond that really.

eircom are ngn enabling Moycullen and Spiddal this year but you gotta be near the exchange to get 8mbits, Furbo also has dsl.

even 3mbit dsl would be better than 20mbit satellite given all the caps and throttles them feckers have :(

Any of them, they all resell the eircom package from those exchanges and differentiate a bit on price and bundles...eg calls to UK included or not. Even Magnet and Smart resell eircom in rural areas. :)

As Barna Furbo Moyculllen and Spiddal are all on fibre I never noticed any congestion on those exchanges.
