Hi, This is probably the wrong place to post, if wrong please move it Mods :)
I saw a job in the paper and am thinking of applying for it. I would be getting 20-25 hours per week. The only problem is it's about 20-30 mins away from home on the by-pass and will have to commute by bus. Do ye think this is worth it? Would cost about a tenner. Need some advice on what to do:confused:

A tenner each day, or a tenner per week? How much is the job p/h? I used to commute 30-40 minutes by train for a job, i broke down the monthly train ticket and it averaged about 1 hr of pay per shift i was paying out in travel. To me, it was worth it. You know what they say, it's easier to find a job if you have a job... If you've been unemployed a while, it would make sense to go for pretty much everything.

A tenner each day. I don't actually know what the pay is, going to ring them tomorrow only saw it a while ago. I presume minimum wage though.

I'd apply for it & then either see if there were more hours available after a period of time (to make the cost of bus fare worthwhile) or apply for loads & loads of jobs as soon as I got it.

That depends if they do 8 hour shifts then its probably worth it

Well, if you're doing it over 4 days, that's 40 euro, but even on minimum wage you'd be coming out with about 150pw with 20 hours, so you'd have 110 after bus fares. I'd do it.

I don't know how fast this bus moves but maybe get a bike at least when the weather is good you will save a few bob

You should also consider the cost of weekly / monthly tickets instead of paying a standard fare each way. Might come out cheaper...

I agree about looking into passes etc. It might be worth putting up notices in both the workplace and local shops to see about carpool.

    Thanks for help guys.
Gonna ring em today and say I'm interested about it etc.
A cycle though would be a fairly hefty journey and not adviseable in my books! :D
