Gel nails removal

    I'm sure there are heaps of threads on this but can't find them :) Any DIY alternative for the removal of gel nails? My usual girl is away and I'm being quoted €40 :eek: Alternatively if anyone knows of anywhere in city centre that can do it cheaper than that I'd love to hear - thanks

    This is the only DIY method I know. I've done it myself the odd time I've gotten gel nails done.

    1 Remove any top coats of ordinary nail polish on your nails with acetone
    2 Gently file the gel nails to "break the seal" on them
    3 Soak your fingers in nail polish remover for at least 10 mins then gently scrape off the gel with an orange sticker cuticle pusher
    4 Keep soaking and scraping until all the gel is removed
    5 If there's any gel left that just won't budge you can try soaking a cotton ball in acetone then applying it to your nail OR you can just gently buff it off with a soft nail file

    Usually when I remove gels my nails are very weak so I apply one coat of Sally Hansen Hard As Wraps, then remove after a few days then I try to leave them without polish for 48 hours minimum because I think the air is good for them (not sure if there's any science behind this?!)
