Best Simple MAME OS?

Have decided to finish fixing up my last remaining cab, and complete the MAME setup..

It has a Hantarex arcade monitor and I will be using a JPAC to connect it to an old Pentium 4 machine I have lying about (1.5 Gb mem, 80GB hard disk)..

It used to run ArcadeOS (using the Fraggle boot CD), but it is complaining about video emulation when i try and install it today.. So it might be time to try a new Mame OS...

Any suggestions? Would some of the newer MAME OS's like Hyperspin run on a p4?

(I will only be using MAME roms, so would prefer something that only provides that emulation)

Hyperpin gets my vote and you should be ok once you have 2gb of ram.

Hyperspin is only a frontend not an OS so you'll need to run it in windows xp or 7, etc. It doesnt supply any emulation, you'll need to install command line mame or zinc, or whichever you prefer.
To be honest I had trouble with joystick delays using it with a standard p4 with 4gb ram and tiny xp, I upgraded to dualcore and it flys along now, maybe turning off some of the features it will work fine on a P4
