Just dropped down to this place on Maxwell Road in Rathmines to buy a rear rack and get it fitted. Great bunch of lads, very friendly and excellent prices. They have a good few second hand bikes and parts if anyone is in the market..I've no connection with the shop btw , just wanted to share a positive experience!

Anyone know if this place is open at the moment? i've called in a few times after 6 recently and the place was closed, I was in a few times towards the end of last year and he was usually open until later on, the number on this doesn't seem to be working either http://www.yelp.ie/biz/dublin-bike-depot-dublin

Does anyone know if this place is still operating?

Tried to find it today but couldn't see any signs for it up Maxwell Lane.

Well for one, it's nothing to do with "Dublin Bikes", as in the rental scheme. And second, it's not exactly a depot.

Strange how you decided to answer on behalf of another poster.

I wouldn't have thought "Dublin bikes" was trademarked.

I just happen to agree it's a bad name.

I'm not sure if it's exactly trademarked but it's certainly the official name of the scheme

It's a bit of a stretch to say that "Dublin Bike Depot" was / is somehow trying to link it self to DublinBikes.

    Here's the logos of both:

...but it's certainly the official name of the scheme

Edit: Just noticed the actual name of the bike depot... the Dublin Bicycle Depot.

The official name of the public bikes system is in any case DublinBikes -- one word and an 's'.

    Terrific.

Now can anyone help with my query?

Probably not, but if you are talking to them ask them if they think they distinguish themselves enough from the Dublin Bikes scheme.

The photo with their logo above was painted onto large doors on Maxwell Lane, if it was painted over there's a good change the Dublin Bicycle Depot is nolonger around.
