    Hello

I am thinking of building a pair of fulcrum zeros.

    the cost 1000 E + to buy

    here goes

    The rims are
    280 E for 2 clinchers
    200 euro for 2 tubalars

the spokes are 80 Euros each wheel

the front hub was 60 euro(i have aquired it.)

now all im lookin for is the rear hub body?

any ideas, can you buy say mavic hub and use that?

    thanks

    CH

erm ... thats €700 without the rear hub  !! ... not trying to be smart but you can get 2011 Zeros for €669, properly built with warranty, and you definitely wont be able to buy the bling hubs off the shelf.

I have a pair of 2009 zeroes I bought new off bike-palast.com early this year. I think they were around €600. Obviously, you get wheel bags, spoke tools, skewers etc as well as the warranty.

eh, no it's €500 without the rear hub, and that's pricing with the pair of clinchers

The hub will have to match the rim for spoke count obviously, so that will restrict your options.
IMHO, selfbuilding with Mavics is a non starter, as they are priced so as not to allow this. Unless you got a damaged rear wheel for near nowth, I'd steer clear!
The best value for money for hubs is Shimano, but if you want to go weight weenie, there are plenty of CNC hubs available on Ebay from Asian sellers. Reviews of same seem to be ok.
Harry Rowland recommends Ambrosio Zenith hubs. His site in general has very good info.

Ooops ... Damn you Gman :)

Still not worth it though, even add in €120 for a rear hub ( not same standard as the Fulcrum Zero one ) and you're still only saving a few quid ... if you build it yourself.
