hay, can someone tell me how bad the rush hour in dublin is around 6.30am i have a ferry to catch in the morn at 8 and im wondering if the port tunnel is worth the cost i'll be comming from newry. I know my way around dublin well as im in it a lot at weekends for rugby etc but im guessing a thur morning will be alot different from a sat afternoon.

    Hey Chris,

If you're coming into Dublin at 6:30 from the M1 you should well be able to make it well in time to the port for an 8am sailing. Not sure but I think that the port tunnel is about 10 euro or so at that hour of the morning heading south.

it's probably worth the €10 toll since it's a once off (it's €3 before 0600 btw), you'll get from the airport to Dublin Port in ~10 minutes. The non-tunnel route might well be ok but you never know - one incident could make a balls of things.

Summer's always quieter anyway but as someone else said, all it takes is one small crash to feck everything up. But at 6:30 there'll be nothing on the road and you could be in town in about 20 minutes coming in the M1 and not using the tunnel.
