Bail Bond Query

Today I called my insurance company (via 123.IE) and asked about the need for a green card as I intend to drive to and remain in Spain for about 6 months. The lady said that there was no need for a green card, but I would require a bailbond. When I suggested that I should receive 90 days free cover under the EU directive 1992, she said 'no', 30 days was all that I was getting!

Can anyone tell me roughly how much I would expect to pay for a bailbond?

    Thanks!

ABI = Association of British Insurers. Welcome to Ireland

I recently covered this in a lecture back when Leinster were in the H Cup Final so I was thinking about beer and rugby instead of listening but from memory, It's still pretty much written into legislation that a SBB is needed and CAN be called upon.

This is also "usually" given under your policy FOC.

123.ie being tied agents for RSA, one would assume that RSA give this out as standard.

Apologies, Seamus is correct. EC Directive ruled it out last year.

    !

You will have 3rd Party insurance for the full 6 months but after 30 days you loose you're fully comp/Fire and theft cover. Depending on the value of the car this may or may not be an issue.
