I need some help. An account has been set up using my husbands email address and I really need to find out who set it up. It has caused so much trouble for us. His picture was also used. It must be illegal. I couldnt be bothered with the gardai as there is enough real crime around us but whoever had done this needs to be outed.

How do i even go about it? I am pretty computer savvy so is there software or a method of doing this?

Do a reverse IP lookup from here - http://remote.12dt.com/lookup.php

I doubt it'll get you very far though, since it's most likely tied to an ISP, so you will only get the ISP details.

Only the Gardai can do a full investigation.

enter your email address. Get the link. Email them the link. Pretend that you dont know its not your husband.

Something like.

Hey <Husbands Name>,
Here's the bike we were looking at <enter link here>

They will probably click, then you will have their IP address.

From there, you can enter their ip address into this http://whatismyipaddress.com/ip-lookup

From there, you can find out who the ISP is, then i would try and contact them.
Say, the person with this IP is pretending to be you, you would like to know who it is so you can report it to the Gardaí, if you are a customer with them as well, you might get lucky. If not, report the IP address to the Gardai, they can find out who is, and you can go from there.

OP - there's not a whole lot you can do with an IP addresss, and it could be faked anyhow.
