Hi, this year we are going on holidays in October and my daughter is bringing a friend so there will be 6 of us, usually a 2 bedroom apartment would be fine but we really feel this year we need 3 and because of a tight budget we want to go all inclusive! we dont want to go to fortuventura but any of the other islands would be fine - anyone any ideas????

Thanks Mike, I will take a look! I too have seen fab villas but the problem seems to be to get one on a holiday complex with all inclusive, our main reason for the all inclusive is that we can set a realistic budget with 2 kids and 2 teenagers - you know what they are like - can i have a coke? can i have an ice cream? can i.....?

I know what you mean. Luckily our daughter isn't at that age, so we can avoid the AI option for a while yet!

The search tools on booking.com are pretty good though, you can select your ideal destination (or even a whole country), enter dates, party size etc. and then on the left of the screen there are options to narrow down the search to various things such as apartments only, villas, full board, SC or AI if you want.

Why not Fuerteventura, by the way. Was there a couple of years ago and loved it!

Thanks again, just looking at that website now! the only reason for not wanting fortuventura is i have heard its the windy island and that there is not much to see or do on the island, now dont get me wrong we are not big into sightseeing but it is nice to get out and about a couple of days, maybe i should take a look before discounting it right off! what did you think of it? where did you stay?

We stayed in Las Marismas, in Corralejo. Fantastic accommodation, especially for what we paid, but Corralejo itself wasn't really up to much IMHO. I know what you mean about the wind though, the beach was fantastic but if you don't have a shelter of some sort you get sand-blasted!

The other thing that struck me about Corralejo (and forgive me for this...) is that it was plagued with AI folks cluttering up bars having A drink because they didn't want to spend any more money than they had already done in their hotels! If there were bars with bands playing, the pavements outside would be crammed with people stopping to listen but not going in because they'd have to buy a drink!

Anyway, that aside, it's no different to any resort I guess. We hired a car for a couple of days and headed into the middle of the island and then headed south to Jandia and Moro del Jable (spelling?). Much preferred it down there. There's another resort called Costa Calma down there, mostly German holiday makers though, so if you're not into them, it could be a bad option. But the wind wasn't nearly as bad down there at all, plus it was a bit warmer too.

We didn't have time to head to the west coast but if I return, that's the plan. Apparently there's loads to see on the west coast including Villa Winter, a holiday home allegedly built for escaping Nazis (although, that's one for conspiracy theorists). You'd need a 4x4 to explore the west coast though and we'd hired a convertible.

I would rate Fuerteventura ahead of most of the other mainstream islands anyway, GC excepted - I just love that place! If you do go to GC, come back to me, I'll give you a few ideas for trips that'll change your mind about the island.
