    Hi all,
    Humble apologies if this is repiticious, but I'm looking to buy a bike for cycling to gym (rather than driving) and to and from town, basically as a run-about sorta thing.

    Was looking in shop on Parnell st., but prices were WAY above what I wanted to spend for the above useage. Today, was in Halfords (sorry if that offends anyone LOL), and saw the following Carrera Crossfire 3
    http://www.halfords.ie/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_11101_catalogId_15551_productId_810635_langId_-1_categoryId_212377
    I dont know if this is the EXACT spec, but looks close enough, with grears & disc-brakes. The cost he said was €425 (I think...possibly €475).

    They had a crossfire 1 for €375, the gears weren't as cool looking and was the standard (V ?) breaks. Much prefered the "3"! Is it a good bike? And does price sound right to you boardsies?

    If you could also answer for me;

    (a) IfI have quick release (they said that they can't change the axel type) how do I lock it when in town or 'out and about'? Its means having to take the wheel off too?

    (b) Whats the deal on bike size? I'm 5'11 - does it really have any bearing? The last time I used a bike was like 15 years ago!!

    (c) While I know that it aint a €1K bike or anything, I assum there is a form of insurance that you can get, in the eventuality that somebody takes a shine to it?!

    Very much appreciate any advice, as you can see, I know nothing about cycles...the last time I had one I think Santy brought it for me.

    Thanks a mill...

    B - Theres a hole size chart for bike and some makes differ then others, its about size and inside leg as well, as your around my hight u will be around 18` frame to a 20` frame.

    Thank you very much Whithawk!!

    That was really great help - went to Halfords today and picked up a Trax 700 or 7000. Price was €149, and was a hybrid. Simple with no quick release. It took a little convincing of myself but gave up the idea of €400/500 version :( Even though it looked so damn sexy!

    Thanks a mill for the advice, I collect it on Saturday.

    Surion.
