Hey, posting on behalf of my bf.

He was due to get paid today, and there was nothing in the post office. It says on the receipt that his PPS isn't recognized. He spent all day calling his welfare office (Dun Laoghaire) but got no answer. He's borrowed money to go down there tomorrow.

He doesn't understand why his money would have been stopped. He's only been on it 4 weeks and was never informed of any sign on date. He was told sign ons were only ever 3 months so he wouldn't have missed one, and was never told there was one this week or last week.

Is there anything he can do to get this week's money? He needs it for his rent >_>

You sign on every month, not every three months. The confirmation letter everyone receives when they get the dole shows that date and time they sign on with every month.

I thought that, too, but apparently they told him he signs on every 3 months. My ex only signed on every 3 months also, although when I was unemployed I signed on monthly.

He's gonna search out his letter now. I assumed he must have missed a sign on or something, but won't know til he's found the letter. Thanks very much!

If you live over a certain distance from your office, I think it is 12 miles, you sign every three months. However you get a slip in the post that you need to sign and send back the months you don't sign. It could be that this wasn't returned yet. But that is just speculation and he needs to contact his office to know for sure.

Yeah, turns out they didn't inform him of the signing date at all. So they apologised and his money is gonna be doubled on Tuesday. Thanks all, this can be locked now :)
