It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

If you dropped out, i dont think you are eligible for the grants after that time.

You are given the money to "study", so if you aren't in college you should not qualify for when you were.

You may not be able to cash some of the cheques as they would be more than 6 months old and therefore "stale".

this whole grant thing is very complicated....

do they usually take permanent change of the reckonable income into account? As of now, im entitled to a full grant with my mams income but her P60 from last december shows i dont even qualify for one! Massive drop in salary!!

I think its not based on last year but the year before could be wrong but i know what they base the income on may not be that current... if she had a drop in her salary wouldn't that bring you closer to qualifying rather than further.

You're not going to get back payments if you're not currently in that course, the grant you applied for is now null and void as you're not currently studying therefore not in need of it. Basically I gather they are not obliged to pay you if youre not studying based on the terms of which they agreed to give you this grant.

EDIT : friend of mine only got two payments of a course she dropped out of, started a new course the next year with a new application, never got the 3rd grant back payment.

Yes - they assess it based on income in 2010 but if you have had a substantial drop in income in 2011 then they will assess this
