The only thing worse than it is having an automatic message every 30 seconds saying "Your call is important to us." Argh. At least now I've got a nice bit of classical music blasting and no actual hold message. Better than the muzak I had to listen to a couple of minutes ago. Can you imagine being the person who composes that stuff? :eek::mad:

Used to always have to ring up HP for customer's products. Used to hate hearing the same goddamn stock, bargain basement music.

One day, I got chatting to a Indian fella (who else? :pac:) who was mad interested in Ireland. He asked me if I liked The Doors and put on Break On Through and LA Woman as hold music for me

The worst is when you put it on speaker to do something else while you wait the half hour for someone to pick up and then someones starts to talk, so you quickly grab the phone, turn off the speaker and start talking only for you to hear "... operators are still busy, please hold"

Called Meteor "Customer Service" the other day and nearly got deafened by some middle of the road indie rock sh1te hold music.

Think it was either Digiweb or UPC that play a bit of Stevie Wonder which is better than most muzak.

Reminds me when I called upc a few months back and their holding music was the same music that eircom used in their tv ads, "don't stop me now". Gave me a bit of a laugh anyway.

One I seem to come across a bit while being put on hold is a song by The Divine Comedy ( think it's "Something for the Weekend" ) which make a change from Bachs '' Concerto in D minor '' .

Vodafone’s "We have all the time in the world" hold music is joke especially after listening to it for 30 minutes.

A few years ago we got a weird, cheap house phone. It had an option for really bad hold music and I used to put it on constantly to annoy people. Great fun.

The hold music where I work is abysmal, got a fair few complaints about how bad it is. It's some tune coded into the handset and the PBX doesn't have a facility to feed your own audio in. If I were in charge of the hold music it would probably be some 8-bit chiptune.

I used to really like Acer's hold music from a few years ago, quite calm and relaxing, so didn't care when I was on hold for 10 minutes.
