What Can I Expect?

So I have an appointment tomorrow to make my claim.

I'm 22 (23 on the 20th of this month), I'm not living at home (rent €70 p/w), I am doing an MA but finished lectures in April (thesis due in September), and my part-time job finished up last Thursday.

What can I expect from this whole process? What will happen tomorrow? What will I likely be told?

Any advice would be appreciated. :)

how long have you been living independantly, did you have a job at all in the last two years?

Since 2006 I've been living in Cork from September-June, I'd then move home for June-September and back to Cork again. I've stopped doing that and have been living by myself since September 2010.

I had a part-time job from end of September 2010 til last Thursday: the position was only available for this period. Before that I had another part-time job for two years, and obviously other jobs before that.

if you were on the books in your last job you've paid PRSI which means you should qualifiy for "some" jobseekers benefit although how long this would last, i do not know.

Everything was above board obviously, but I've just had a brief look back through my payslips and it doesn't appear as though I've made any PRSI contributions... judging by the 0.00 beside PRSI anyway...

    hmmmm i'm not sure then.

I was working partime when I had finished college and I had JSB but never paid close attention to the payslips.

If you DON'T qualify for JSB, i'm not sure if you'll get the full whack of dole + rent allowance as you were seen as being in full time education until recently.

    It's worth checking anyway.
