What GPA is required for a 1st.

Does it differ from course to course @ UCD?

I got a GPA of 3.4 in my Semester 1 exams. Is that average?

    That's pretty good.

Bit confused by the grading system. Got 3 B+ (two were 10 credit, one 5 credit) and one A+ (10 credit) and received a GPA of 3.77. Does this make sense and how is it worked out?

    This link explains the grading.

Thanks for that. This means that I got 10 credits at a GPA of 4.2, and 25 credits at a GPA of 3.6. The net result of this was 3.77, I would have thought the weighting of the 3.6 would have dragged it down further? Sorry, I'm new to using GPAs

    10 credits * 4.2 GPA = 42
    25 credits * 3.6 GPA = 90
    42+90=132
    132/35 credits = 3.77
So that's how the weighting works & it is correct.

Are resit modules used when calculating your GPA?
My GPA, seems to be calculated without them, and it says I only did 65 credits, but I did 75 as I had 1 repeat and 2 resits, is this normal?

They should be, they are capped at a 2.0 (D-) grade point though.

    Isn't 3.8 a first? It's 70% anyway for a first which would be about the 3.8 mark

Look at Mardy bum's link, it explains it. 3.68 and above is a first.

For resits and GPA, if you resat them in Sem 1 this year for Sem 2 of last year, the GPA would be for Sem 2 last year & the credits would show up for then. I think that's how it works anyway.

    & a firsts is defintely 3.68.
