    hi
i have 2 springer spaniels for rough shooting and i am now thinking of getting a working terrier as well just as a companion for hunting and flushing game.i've heard before that they can be very usefull because of there fearlessness and aggression and i was just wondering if anyone knew much about them.

    thanks

tis hard to carry a spade as well as a shotgun ;)

a 'proper' working terrier is a pain in the behind if you are trying to shoot if it knows it's job it'll be down the first earth it finds occupied

Problem is as it was stated that if it's a working dog and it finds an earth with an occupant are you willing to dig it out for the rest of the day???? All terriers that if every owned or seen will put anything out of ditch, there bred for it. My advice would be an Large Airedale terrier, it's too big for earths but beat bushes and retrieve game if trained! Other than that any terrier will do ya :D

A terrier will keep up with any springer any day :D my terriers ran with Lurchers and hounds and where still not tired to bang foxes out of holes

Mate you need to first stop asking the same question in a couple of threads, stick to one thread and ask the questions there u will get better results :D Question about woodcock I'd stick to the springers, if it's a companion in the field as I mentioned any terrier will beat the bushes. Did you try googling terriers beating bushes?

would a working terrier go at a miniture yorksire terrier though. the reason i'm asking is my mother has one and one of my springers retrieved her before to my father when he caught her as if he thought she was a rabbit :D luckily though he has a soft mouth and he didn't hurt her i'd just wonder what a terrier may do..
