On mobile today and unable to search forum properly.

Try and find the thread on race 2 at Garristown in April. I posted a link there to safe riding in a race. Also search some of us out when you get there (I may be there if the weather is looking too bad for the track league - I will not be in Swords gear, but my jersey may well give me away ;))

Make sure you explain your inexperience to the organisers, and get yourself put in Group 1 - Ryaner managed to win his first race and Petethedrummer got a second adopting these tactics last year ....)

Numbers may be down given the holiday season and most novice riders in the league have now got the hang of racing, so hopefully there won't be any hairy moments, at least in Group 1.

There will hopefully be some "experienced" riders in the group - pay attention to what they do and how they do it and you'll be fine.

If it's raining, forget about staying dry.

    I was lower than 2nd. Can't remember where I was. 4th or 6th.

It was bucketing down in last weeks race, but to be honest, it's fine in the rain.

Beasty is right you could go in group 1 but as i ve rode with you and your out on the half 8 spin imho your no doubt well able for group 2, you ll blow group 1 apart. But if its wet it might be a good option.

    Safety

    - Dont ride up the inside of anyone going into corners
    - Dont overlap wheels
    - Easy on the breaks, no pulls
    - Indicate like in a car with your hands if moving left or right
    - Dont weave violently climbing
    - Dont shunt your bike back when climbing

    Group Riding

    - Dont horse through or you ll be spending a lot of time on the front wondering why others wont follow you through. Ease off a bit as you tuck in.
    - Dont cross the white line
    - Call holes, cars, dogs etc if on/near the front

Prob a few i ve forgot too.

    Staying Dry

    - Forget it. enjoy teh bath

    Not getting Dropped

    - Try stick to the middle and not teh back when possible.
    - Get in the right gear to sprint out of corners.

You ll be fine. See you there mate.
