Right, I will cut right down to the chase. I have a sibling who I believe needs immediate psychiatric care in order to prevent harm coming to herself/himself or others in my community. A number of events have occurred in recent weeks (including assault and harassment) which I believe show that my sibling is not in full control of her/his actions and accordingly could undertake violent acts which will seriously harm others in my community in the very near future.

Unfortunately up until now no formal legal complaints have been made against said individual out of fear of reprisal actions. Accordingly An Garda Síochána have been unable to approach the individual in a formal manner, even though members of the force are aware of the circumstances and are becoming increasingly concerned in relation to the actions of the said individual.

Also - perhaps the most important part - my GP cannot undertake involuntary admission procedures against the said person because if she/her were to do so they would be in violation of the Mental Health Act 2001. You can take from that as you want.

What do I do? I am genuinely concerned that his person will seriously harm others in the immediate future It seems to me that there is little I can do but wait for harm to be done before this person is taken into care? What can I do?!

The said person is totally unwilling to go for psychiatric care!

OP, as the advice you are seeking falls between a medical and a legal issue we are obligated by Boards rules to close it.
