    I have to date
21 pics taking with a trail cam, My Face, Paulo 6.5's face
    My hand
    Paulo's hand
And 15 of grass blowing in the wind!

    HooHum.....
    anyway, what I have learned
Clear grass ~30 feet at the same height of trail cam. And Turn on when cam is in position, not before then.

Never was I soooooo disappointed to see 15 pics of grass.
However, in complete darkness 30feet in front of the cam is clearly visible when the cam takes a pic
Can be difficult to do on a corn field beside a Silage field, while still hiding the cam from nosey folk

Throw out some bait and put the camera on that, you'll get a pic of Charlie the first night, and scawl crows/magpies if theres anything left in the morning.Simples

He is trying to get photos of deer :p

Although you should probably frame the picture of poulo and get him to sign it, it could be worth something in the future :P :D

Trying to disguise the cam from nosey people who might rob or disturb it problem 1.
Problem 2 is keeping it out of direct sunlight and as it has been very windy lately swaying grasses.

I had cleared a fairly substantial area around the cam location, obviously not enough.
I had never used on before so it's all a learning curve.
Also 4 C type batteries only lasted 12 days with 21 pics and a 6 min timeout

There can be big differences in battery longevity, depending what it's used for. Did you use Varta or other good brand?
Argos often have very good deals on batteries.

Just wondering - if you had some rechargeables try them. Would be v expensive to buy with charger just for this though.

Having said all that, maybe 12 days is normal for this kind of thing?

    They were energiser and panasonic.
    I'll re-install today in a different location.

This time I'll bring a billhook with me though :D

I got a bushnell cam and they recommend that you use lithium batteries. thet are very pricy though and work out at around €60+ to fill the camera
