    Hi all.

For two weeks in August my bf and I will be inter-railing around Europe.. Prague, Krakow, Bratislava, Vienna & Budapest.

Out of these countries Vienna is the only one in Euro.

What is the most economical way to bring money? Credit Card? Laser? Travellers Cheque? Cash?

I do have a credit card but it wont be in credit.

Interested in peoples stories of how they handled their money in Europe.

    Thanks!!

Laser should be OK to use?

Yes; however only use it in the Euro-zone countries and you will avoid charges just as if you used it at home. However Laser is very expensive outside the Eurozone and it is often cheaper to pre-load your credit card and use that instead, especially if you go outside Europe to the US, Asia or Australia etc.

As the OP has some of central and eastern Europe on the itinerary it would be best to withdraw Euros in either Bratislava or Vienna (both in the Eurozone) and then change the Euros for the local currency when they cross the border and change any leftover money when leaving for the next countries currency, this way you'll avoid having the usual holiday souvenir cash afterwards.

I have done extensive travelling in recent years and last month went through my "funny money" envelope and totted up the sums only to discover I have around €940 worth of "funny money" as I called it, a trip to the Forex is long overdue for me!

You could also order the local currency in your Irish bank before you go; You'll be needing Czech Koruna (Crown), Polish Zloty and Hungarian Forint, Austria and Slovakia are in the Euro.
