swb transit towing

    Any ideas how big a trailer i can tow with my t260 swb transit. I know the max weight loaded of the van is 2600kg. the maximum train weight is 4500kg on the plate on the van. does this mean i can tow 1900kg even with the van loaded, or does the van need to be empty.
    All the googling has my mind all mixed up and most of the info is for england. Is it the same story here.
    Licence not a problem. I have the c1+e which isn't an issue.

    GVW ( Gross Vehicle Weight) = 2600kgs. As you said, the total max weight of the van and load.

    GTW ( Gross Train Weight) = 4500kgs. This is the max loaded van weight (2600kgs) plus trailer and load.

    So to find your max trailer weight its:

    GTW - GVW = MTW (Max Trailer Weight)

    4500kgs - 2600kgs = 1900kgs is your max trailer weight.

    The 1900kgs is trailer and load, most people forget about the trailer, and its dose'nt matter if the van is empty or loaded, that's you max trailer weight.

    P.S. No you can't run an empty van and put more weight in the trailer.

    Without an EB licence I'd be wary of towing anything plated over 900kg.
