    Folks,

I am looking for a new chain for my Trek 1.2 2009..

Group set is Shimano Sora 8 Speed, so does anyone have any recommandations on a replacement chain?

    Thanks in advance.

yeah. Anything but Shimano. Mavic.Wipperman.KCNC.etc Mavic and Wipperman are supposeldy the same with different stamps but are bombproof. Cant comment on SRAM.

The only Shimano chain I've ever had a problem with was a DuraAce/ XTR chain on a MTB that broke on the Ballyhoura trail. It was a bit too lightweight. I dropped a level and have never had any issue since.
KMC chains are well regarded too.
I presume the Sora is 9spd? So the cheapest Shimano or SRAM chain on CRC will do fine once it is 9spd specific.

I've been using SRAM 9-speed chains with a powerlink for my 9-speed Shimano drivechain for the last year and found them to be ultra reliable. The powerlink makes them very easy to clean off the bike as well.

Shimano chains are very very reliable as long as they are installed correctly, maintained, and replaced when due. Same goes for most other brands. I have also used SRAM, KMC and Mavic/Wipperman and all are good, although I mostly use Shimano. Shimano is trickier to install (it doesn't use a quick link) and I suspect many of the problems people have come from mis-installation. You must use the connecting pin, not a normal pin, and put it in the leading end of the outer link. Once you get that right they are bombproof. AFAIK most brands are made by KMC in any case, I remember there was a problem with chains cracking a while back and it affected Shimano, SRAM and KMC simultaneously.
