    technically we weren't really 'born'.
Not in the same way that a bottle of budweiser is born.
    Or a star is born

First thing you'd have to do is decide when it was born and which bit/s you are talking about.

They know the year Ireland rose above sea level I think, but don't know if they know the date.

I think it was 10,000 years ago???

Sorry, I'm going by very vague memories here!
I'm sure plenty of people will actually know.

Nobody give the game away by telling the OP about the massive, deadly party we've all been having every you-know-what day without inviting him.

Nothing to see here OP, move along now.

We're to busy cribbing about the demise of our country
Celebrating the birth of it would involve having to enjoy ourselves.....impossible

I presume your talking about our independence day which pretty much would of been the start of the civil war. Not something you really want to becelebrating to be honest.

i dont think celebrating st patricks day is sufficient enough to celebrate our freedom. what about the so many none christians in this country who avail of the same freedom we do. are we to insult them by claiming a christian holiday as our independents day?

i think its about time that a national independence day debate be set up

Ah the birth of Ireland would be a hard one to attain, some volcanic action years back i reckon.

Yes, I was sitting in me boat, drinking a can of Dutch Gold, and trying to catch some fish, when all of a sudden the water disappeared for miles around me. I dragged me boat across the sand until I reached the sea again, and became the first person to emigrate because there were no fuckin jobs:(

I think in science terms we didn't in fact rise above the waves. What happened was we suddenly loosed from europe - with a jolt - and went flying out a ways to the atlantic. A lot of people near the edge toppled back into the water.

The date wasn't recorded because they hadn't yet invented the notebook.

I'm fairly sure that the ice melted and the land rose up after a fcuk load of time after being buried under water.
And then the first settlers began appearing a while later.

I'm not good with dates or details, but I'm pretty sure the basic gist of this is correct?
