PPSN Card needed for signing on?

I signed up for jobseekers allowance last month and am doing the monthly signing on thing for the first time later this week. I've absolutely no idea where the actual card is so I'm just wondering whether I'll still be able to sign on and what I should do about the card situation.

    I know my pps number.

Thank you very much for any help.

Yeah generally you do need it because they have to swipe it. I'm sure if it's a once off and you don't have it they can arrange something else. Where is your card though? Have you lost it or has it just not arrived yet? Either way you need to inform SW. Really you should have it

Unless you have a card you cannot sign on

If you haven't got a card, the local social welfare office will give you a temporary yellow card to use until your PSSN card comes.

So I'd have to order a new one at a different part of the social welfare offices before signing on and they'd give me a temporary one right there?

Pretty sure it's in my parents house but we can't seem to find it and I doubt we will considering how messy it is.

You need to go up to SW and tell them its lost and they will order a new one. It's never happened to me so not sure what the story is. How have you been getting your payment in the post office. You should have your card for that too

Only handed in the forms and stuff for jsa last month this is the first time I've actually needed the card for anything.

Yes, you'll need to report it lost at reception first and they should issue you with a temporary yellow/white piece of card with your PPS number and an expiry date which they'll ask you to sign in their presence...
