Saorview problem

I have just installed a Saorview/freesat combo box and the freesat is working fine. The Saorview isnt working properly though. I have it connected to an aerial (that I share with my neighbours) that is pointing towards the transmitter in woodcock hill. When i scan the frequencies, RTE News, an RTENL channel and about 6 test screens tune in but nothing else. I am guessing that I am getting a weak signal to my box due to the fact that I am sharing the aerial with about 20 houses. Will a signal booster strengthen my signal enough to be able to tune in the rest of the channels? Or would i be better off installing my own aerial?

It seems that you are getting the content from MUX 2, and not MUX 1.

If you can pick a particular channel to tune in to, try each of the channels below. (Not sure which is Mux 1 and Mux 2.

    Woodcock Hill Clare (Limerick) 47 44 41 51

Mux 2 from Woodcock Hill appears to be transmitting at a higher power than Mux 1.

Here in east Co Limerick, in an area difficult to receive Woodcock Hill due to topography I'm pulling in an excellent Mux2 signal but not a whisper for Mux 1 (Mullaghanish aerial). My brother is also pulling in a weak Mux 2 signal on a low fixed basic contract aerial for Mullaghanish.

Not sure of your location or your distribution setup but your own aerial might be a better solution.

    Woodcock Hill Mux 1 - Ch. 47, Mux 2 - Ch. 44

Have you done a full auto tune/scan (21-69)? What's the analogue reception like from Woodcock Hill?

I read on the Mux 2 thread people reporting Mux 2 appears to lower power than Mux 1. In my area Woodcock Hill appears to be transmitting at much higher power than Mux 1 and this also seems to be the case for Mullaghanish with the signal strength slightly higher than Mux 1.

I would also think that you should be using your own aerial and you should be ok.

I am living in a terrace of duplex's in Annacotty and we all share a single aerial. The analogue reception is very good on all 4 channels.

It sounds like i am picking up Mux 2. I didnt know what channel to scan so i did an auto scan. Ill try ch. 47 by itself when i get home. I got my hands on a booster too, Ill try that too and if that doesnt work ill have to put up an aerial.

I would rather put one up in the attic than on the roof (I would need a very long ladder to get to the roof of my duplex) Can ye tell me what would be a good (but cheap) aerial to buy?
