    There's probably no easy answer.

It depends on your level of skill and what type of sand you generally play from. Also do you want to use a sand wedge from the fairway?

If you play on very soft dry sand then a sand wedge with lots of bounce will be good........the bounce tends to stop the wedge from digging in and for soft sand you want the club to skim under the ball.

If you play on hard or wet sand then too much bounce will make it hard to get under the ball and you'll end up thinning shots over the green.

I prefer a sand wedge with a fair amount of bounce for softer sand. The bounce helps me on longer bunker shots and gives me a bit more margin for error. If the sand is hard or wet then I'll use my gap or lob wedge (I'll leave my sand wedge at home unless I know the sand is soft). I don't use my sand wedge from the fairway so it has become a luxury club for me - I generally only use it on links courses that have good quality sand.

My irons PW is a 48* so I just gapped up in 4* increments. GW 52* SW 56* LW 60*.

The 56* gets a good bit of play because it has a little extra bounce, if a lie looks anyway funny I'l pull that even if at first glance the LW looks the best option. Nothing worse than going under it with a LW or if it is a bit damp and you hit it a bit fat, no chance if it's the 60. The extra bit of bounce is a big help.

I use my GW for chipping. I only use it for the occasional full shot so the grooves on it will always be the freshest in the bag.Although I'v been using Top Flights for the past couple of weeks while I was trying to get my swing in shape so have not seen a bit of check for a while.

I use MD Golf Norman Drew wedges with the standard bounce. I could not afford a full set of some of the bigger brand name wedges so I went in search of cheaper similar performing clubs and ended up with them. I used a Vokey SW previously and IMO the MD ones play every bit as good.

Gotcha, to be honest I dont like using my LW for the sand like i have for the past 2 weeks so think im gonna source one solely just for the sand, the sand where im a member is not damp and hard, its lovely sand like the beach :)

I've a spare Burner 09 sand wedge that I might part with, if interested. Let me know and I can stick some details up on adverts. 11deg bounce, 55deg loft.

I bought a 2nd hand Mizuno RAW 56 degree. Looked a lovely club, but couldn't get the ball out of the sand with it - kept digging in & I'd take too much sand & the ball would stay in the bunker.

Someone mentioned bounce to me one day & I compared the Mizuno with an old Ping SW I had. Same 56* loft but much more bounce on the Ping - went back to using it & gave the Mizuno away to a mate.

So, my advice, try to get a a trial of a couple of different bounce levels.
