    Right lads..

I know all about sending the recievers back to China being a pain but i suppose its worth taking the risk..

What i'm wondering is who has got caught by customs lately, where did ye buy from and how much?

I've been looking at a 500hd on hdtvdreambox...

    Another possibility is aliexpress..

So any info would be appreciated guys!

I recently bought a laptop battery from outside the EU (by accident)
Got a letter from Revenue asking me to cough up another €6 if I wanted the package.
From what I hear, revenue are really targeting this area.
Anything over €22 value (I think) is liable for duty
Be careful & do your sums first

I got a Dm500 last year and it came thru without any duty but i dont think i'd bother again as if they put 20 or 30 euro on it would be cheaper to get it from england with no risk and also easier to return if faulty.

    Cheers tapfit..

    Where'd you buy from?

    And who delivered it..

Have heard DHL are being hit a lot in heathrow for Dream clones..

I think its anything over €22 is liable to VAT, and anything over €150 is liable to VAT and duty.

Read that customs in UK was stopping boxes from China. Something about fake boxes and copyright. Some chap was sent a letter and ask permission to have his boxes destroyed otherwise they would begin legal proceedings!

    Seen that redout..

Thats happening with some DHL shippings...

So UPS all the way if ye're going that way...

http://www.yaoxincn.com/ is suppoused to be very reliable for dreamboxes I haven't purchased myself but I know that many of the users at Digital Kaos purchased dreamboxes from them and have been happy with the purchase.

A bit of topic too is that not all electrical goods that come from China are caught by customs. I have personally bought three different items from China for over a hundred euro and I was only sent a letter from the revenue asking for tax for one out of the three.

Ive never had a problem with ordering anything from Deal extreme and Ive used them a lot. THey put gift on the packaging and it seems to get to me with no problems from customs.

Ive used satboxes.com also and had a good experience.

On the flipside, I did get a package from DX stopped by Customs, even over standard snailmail methods.

Luckily, the value didn't exceed €20 so I got it after forwarding my receipt.

Seems customs pull stuff at random
