Dud Stepper motor??

    Hi Guys.

    I've been trying to move this 8 wire stepper motor all week to no avail. I'm doing a vision acquisition project and i'm using 3 of these steppers. One for a conveyor and the other 2 for a pick and place robot.
    I bought them last week on ebay and as per the datasheet it can be controlled in a bipolar or unipolar configuration. I've tried to control it in both unipolar and bipolar configurations with appropriate controllers and drivers but have just gotten erratic movement of the rotor.
    I opened it this morning and am concerned about the coils that don't seem to be tightly wound and more worryingly that they seem to be touching.
    Attached are the datasheet and a picture of the opened motor.
    Can anyone tell me if this motor looks to be incorrectly wound??.

    These are typically switched at high frequency, hence the low number of turns.

    It would be strange if all three were faulty. What controller are you using? Have you verified that the colours / connections are per the wiring diagram with a multi meter?
