Razor burn on legs :(

    Razor bumps, more than burn..
This seems to be an endless problem for me and really irritating me, so advice is appreciated..

My leg hair shaving routine is..new sharp razor, warm water, exfoliating perhaps a day in advance, soapy stuff like conditioner... sometimes I'll even soak my legs in the bath and then shave..

but everytime I am ending up with stinging legs that resemble this:

That's from google images, not mine, but best pic I could find, but mine are usually worse. I even bought a brand new pricey razor in case that was the issue but it seemed to exacerbate the problem..I left shaving for a few days and moisturized etc, but with no luck.. stings like f**k too, and my leg looks like it's on fire a few hours after the shave...

Anyone have any advice?? Not seeking medical advice but beauty-wise advice..ut's making life pretty yuck in this weather :(

    Hi LadyMayBelle,
I know your pain. I've always been susceptible to razor rash/bumps. I'm getting laser now which has eradicated the problem. You should consider it - especially if you have dark hair and white skin. In the meantime, you're right to use warm water to soften the hair before you shave. However, you should dip your razor into cold water as you shave. This prevents the blade from expanding. I found a Mach 3 razor much better than the dedicated ladies razors. The replacement blades are expensive but last a long time if you keep them clean and dry. It might be a good idea to use almond oil or something gentle to moisturise your legs after you shave, in case your moisturiser is triggering a reaction. Hope this helps

Okay, just happens that i have almond oil..should I dilute it much?
I did find that the dove moisturizer made the stinging worse..
I have pale skin and blonde hairs, and couldn't afford lazer :(

I get the same problem sometimes. Thinking of buying an epilator - heard they hurt but seem cost effective. Semms to me like a home alternative to waxing

Yeah I don't do pain :)..waxing is something I couldn't bear; I can just about handle threading!!

No need to dilute the almond oil as it's very gentle. It's possible that you are allergic to your Dove moisturiser, so I'd stop using it for a while if I were you. Given your colouring, you'd be wasting your money on laser so that's not an option. I tried an epilator years ago and I ended up with serious ingrown hairs, I'm talking angry red lumps all over my poor legs. It was horrible. I'm not saying that will happen to you - my hair was very coarse pre-laser so epilation was a bad choice. I also found it excruciating!

Cheers! I have a few ingrow hairs too which are a nightmare.. with the cooler weather coming this week I think I'll give the shaving a rest, get the leggings out again and def try the almond oil..nice tip!

Any other tips? I am desparate to be honest..I letf them alone yesterday and did the almond oil yesterday and yes it was soothing, but I have to try shaving my legs tonight or tomorrow..
