Hi, does anybody know of a Dublin-based service where someone will manually copy a CD collection to MP3/similar? I have a vague recollection of reading about something along these lines a number of years ago.
    Many thanks

Wow, thats lazy. You can do it yourself for free on any pc, just make sure its connected to the internet and it will name them correctly

Once you have the internet, your CDs will be identified and save you typing in the details.
Well you might have to do this for a few

You don't need a specialist service
If you can't find time to do this yourself have you a student in your family, slip them a tenner an hour and it's still cheaper then going to a business

You don't even need a permanent internet connection to rip music as you can download a local copy of the Freedb Database (Link) and combine it with CDex

have a look at this guide which takles you step by step through converting your CD collection to whatever format you desire link

I'd imagine it will be difficult to find a business that will pirate your CD collection for you.

Creating a digital copy of a cd purchased legally for personal use within the european union with the exception of the UK and Malta is legal and not considered piracy..also coping to a blank cd for the same purpose is legal..

They are thinking of changing law in the uk, bring it up to date, make it legal to rip cds,to
ipods,mp3 players etc if you buy a cd you should be able to rip it to any device you own.If most people are ignoring a law ,than its probably a stupid or out of date law.

Unless you have 1000s of cds ,its easy enough to just rip em to a pc,i dont consider it piracy to rip a cd that you have paid for,no more than recording a program from tv is piracy.
at one time it was illegal to buy condoms in ireland, we have had plenty of stupid laws in this country in the past.
    Which now seem absurd.
