A recent Boards win got me thinking of this one. Many people see here as just a place for beginners to be set on their way for what ever distance they do etc. This thread is in recognition of Boards wins and the performances of some of the athletes here. Feel free to add to this as I know there is plenty I have missed

    Titles
    2 x Clontarf Half Marathon
    Cyprus Marathon
    European Masters 5000m (track)

    Podium Finishes
Wicklow Way Relay - Boards team 3rd

    Records
Womens Irish Indoor 24 hour record

Cheek! It was in the Curlew Mountains in Boyle (a location that should be etched in every Irishman's memory. :) It was a Boards 1st and 2nd place and dna_leri and I are the official Curlew Warriors of 2011. Like Red Hugh O’Donnell, we held off the marauding foreign invasion to pick up the accolades.

We must be due some kind of award for combined use of physios

It all depends on the level you're looking for. Add all posters here and all kinds of races and we'll end up with a massive list.

Blimey, even I won a local 5k once (Killorglin Puck Warrior in its first year) (no, there really was not much of a field :p).

I know. Totally sucks that the AAI won't let TI members into their events. Some they'll get rid of that rule and well be able to do 10k and other running races. Maybe even a marathon some day.

Anyone can run a marathon, and a high percentage of folk could probably complete a triathlon even an ironman.

Running a very fast mile or 5k...now youre limiting the numbers. And if you cant, sure you can always complete an ironman or two...and pretend.

Seriously Triathlon is not affiliated to the IAAF as far as i know. National bodies tend to reciprocate the IAAF structure.

Youre criticism, if i understand it correctly, should therefore be aimed higher up than the AAI who can only really include sports that the IAAF include.

I dont agree with criticism of people who wish to complete marathons but you must put the triathon/ironman craze in the same category as that for marathons in order for your criticism to be balanced.
