Hey guys, I got my results during the week from FETAC

    Anatomy & Physiology - Distinction
    Nursing studies - Distinction
    Social studies - Distinction
    Growth & Development - Pass
Safety Health at work - Distinction
    Word Processing - Distinction
    Work experience - Distinction

So I got 7 Distinctions out of 8 and I have applied to do general nursing or psychiatric nursing in UCD, General or psychiatric in DCU and General in Limerick and Social care in DIT.

What do you think are my chances be being accepted on a nursing course, Im really hoping that Ill get accepted but Im not sure.

    Thanks

Growth & Development is a mandatory module which means you MUST get a distinction in it to be in with a chance. Chances of getting in with all distinctions is slim enough as it is as there are so few places with Fetac.

how exactly are fetac places given out if everyone gets a distinction ? are fetac results used in mature applications ? or is it seperate ? ?

    Lottery.
Are fetac results used in mature applications or is it separate?

If you applied through the mature student route, there is a system for allocating places, usually involving an interview. If you applied through the CAO using your FETAC results, you're in competition with all other applicants.

Presumably you have communications also to make up a full award? Yea unfortunately without 8 distinctions you'd be very very lucky to get a place. But social studies might not be a bad choice, then look at the nursing conversion courses in the UK. I think Kings College in London has a well recognised one.
