    Hello all,

I was just wondering if somebody could help me with a problem.
I have a 99 Volkswagen Golf and intermittently it would cut out and would lose all power. But i would be able to start the car away again normally. The rev needle would jump around a lot when it cuts out as well if thats any good.

So if any one could give me any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any help given. :):)

What engine? is it serviced regularly?

It's a 1.4 engine, failed the emissons test by 0.08, should be below 0.3 and got 0.38. It was only serviced approximately 1000 miles ago

You need to get the throttle body cleaned out with intake cleaner it should have been done at the service as it's a common problem with petrol Vw engines

I would look at simple things like condition of throttle body and air filter first.Just because it was serviced doesn't mean it was done unfortunately.

Sounds like crankshaft sensor. I had a similar problem with my golf. It eventually got worse and the car would not start at all.
Get your car scanned and if it's electrical it should show up.As previous posters recommend give the throttle body a clean.
