I'm getting some strange behaviour trying to make an order just now. I'm trying to buy three items, a mouse, keyboard and mouse-mat, all are from Amazon, but when I go through the checkout, they are asking me to pay for postage on one of the items, the mouse mat.

edit: after a bit of playing around, I tried a few different combinations of random stuff, all sold by Amazon, and they seem to be grouping items by whatever department they are from, and only giving you free delivery if the total from that department exceeds the £25.

    Anyone else getting this?

It has always being free delivery on items over £25

Have only noticed that when an item is shipped from someone other than Amazon. I did have something similar happen the other night though - I selected three items 'in stock and shipped by Amazon' but when I went through to checkout, one of the items was being dispatched by a third party and so I was not getting the free shipping as the order was split into 2.

think it can happen if the item is not actually in stock (says something like dispatched in 2 days)

Yep but that wasn't the OP's point.

Shipping is free for me once total exceeds £25 and my order includes items from different depts., a watch, t-shirt, CD and DVD. Perhaps it was just one of their all too regular software quirks at play.

    This should explain it better....

All sold by amazon, and in stock, yet for some reason they've been divided up into three separate orders.

Odd alright, I did it with two of your items and free delivery is coming up. It's a new payment screen as well.

The problem lies in ticking the box about separating the delivery into separate orders - "I want my items sooner" - and in choosing standard delivery rather than free delivery.

If the OP tries making those two changes he will find that delivery becomes free.

It's important not to adopt autopilot mode when completing order forms.

I did the same and got free too, the game did say "In stock.
Items for dispatch to UK will be sold by Amazon's Preferred Merchant.
    "

    too

Free Super Saver delivery doesn't seem to be selected and if you don't ask, you don't get!

You need to click "group items in as few deliveries as possible" and also click "free supersaver delivery"

I lately find amazon being a little sneaky with the way they label who is selling what.Todays example happened when I was trying to buy shoes sold by amazon and advertising free delivery. All of the shoe colours on the page advertised as sold by amazon were sold by them in some sizes but certain sizes were sold by an another retailer that offered free delivery to the uk but £ 15 delivery to ireland. So However it was not apparent at all that these shoes were sold by a separate retailer. So you really need to keep your eyes open.

In fairness it's not sneaky in such a way that amazon would be profiting more from you buying from another retailer than from themselves, shoes/clothes are just bit tricky as they can't really have a separate listing for every size/colour available.
