Shipping excess luggage to Ireland from Germany

I've been on Erasmus in Germany for the last year. Hence I basically brought most of my possessions to Germany and then accumulated various more things over the course of the year. The problem now is that I have to get it all back to Ireland. I just booked my flights home with Aer Lingus and booked in three bags but I foolishly didn't realise that those bags can only have to have a total weight of less than 20kgs (I thought you got extra weight when you booked in more bags like with Ryanair). I'd say I could easily have double the 20kg limit. The cost per kilo extra is €9 which is quite a lot. Therefore, I'm wondering does anyone know how much it would cost to ship about 20/25kgs from Germany to Ireland? Has anyone done this or something similar? What companies would you suggest? It would be great if people had some advice for me.

    Thanks very much!

I shipped much of my household the other way, from Ireland to Germany. About a dozen large boxes and a bike altogether. I went with a Polish shipping company that has a route going through Germany. They would take parcels the other way as well.

However, since you have far less stuff to take, shipping it via Hermes or GLS could be much cheaper and simpler. A large parcel weighing up to 25kg is €28.90 to Ireland with Hermes for example.
