Do house painters do behind the radiators?

Just recently got my whole house re-plastered and repainted. It's now looking grand, except for behind the radiators. The rads themselves were painted and look lovely, but behind them is filthy, brown, peeling, ancient wallpaper and looks pretty rotten.

Is it normal practice not to do behind the radiators? Is it just really hard to remove them or something that would have to be done by someone from the gas company?

Just wondering of anyone knows the usual protocol for behind radiators, never had a house painted before so I haven't a clue what the general practice is. :o

A good few plaster, ers will actually get the rads taken off the walls (room by room) as they are plastering.

The plaster, ers that replastered my house did this for me recently.:)

Painters do usually paint down behind rads,as there are specific long handled mini rollers for using behind rads.

You can by them in any paint shop, builders providers or diy/hardware store.About 5-6 euro for a long handled rad roller and tray.

You should really have got the rads removed before plastering, it going to look pretty s**tty if you ever decide to remove the rad later for any reason.

Its a pretty shoddy job if your plasterer plastered around a rad.

Why don't you put some reflective foil behind the radiators to cover the offending wallpaper and reflect the heat back into the room. 2 jobs in one. :D

That foil is either tied, stuck or pasted onto the rad itself and you would still see the old wall paper on the wall.It doesnt cover the wallpaper at all.

Not the stuff I used, it goes on the wall directly behind the rad. Simply apply a bit of wallpaper paste to the foil making sure to cut 2 slits in it so that it fits around the radiator brackets and the job is done.
