Are you saying addition or addiction? They should have spotted his compulsion, or done the maths?

And they want a super casino in Tipperary.
Just because one alleged gambling degenerate decided to steal to feed his habit doesn't have any bearing on the Lowery casino.

If he had just followed x Pyro, he could have been living it up now.

Yeah, the casino can fall down on its own merits.

It's such a disgrace, and it shouldn't be allowed to go on.
Gambling, or any game involving the exchange of money should be illegal, because a small minority of people can't handle themselves.

That's your solution then? Make it illegal because some people can't handle themselves.

You really think that would stop people gambling? Making drugs illegal has really worked, nobody takes them anymore!

I'd go one further and say anything that can cause people problems should be banned. Fast food is a another huge problem and allowing people to eat it is a an outrage.

Well for the week that's in it,

Lawyers associated with Full Tilt have reportedly said that the European investors have agreed to pay back the $150 million and gain a majority stake in the Irish operation Pocket Kings.

So it seems there is a lot of money to be made from Gambling.. (and a lot of money people will loose in the process)

anyway as someone who has never set foot in a bookies I don't think I have missed much.. (the lotto is as far as I go and atleast the profits go to the state, but I do believe its another tax on the poor, but better the money in our hands then in the investors pockets)

It is also understood that gardai are examining the content of the text message to his wife which was not the usual English grammar he used when texting home.

After an intensive grammar probe, it turns out he never done it

Damn right. The government needs to step in and realise that the irresponsible mistakes of the few outweigh the responsible enjoyment of the many.

It's a well known fact that if you have to put up with some ignorant fucker, odds are its a person. Ban the bastards I say.

While we're at it we should ban water. Someone could drown in it you know.

If you won €20,000 in a month with Paddy Power they would close your account. Different story if you are losing. Even though the Law thus put an onus on them to check and be alert to money that might be laundered and fraud and betting at this level should have alerted then to be more vigilant.

    I was being sarcastic.
Thing is, often when a story like this breaks, people forget the fact that this idiot was stealing huge amounts from work, and the idiots who employ him allowed it to happen, and instead look at gambling as the cause of the problem, and villify gambling institutions as though it's their fault that the guy stole a ****load of money and then lost it.

Ban gambling, ban the stock market, ban the ability to buy and sell property, in fact ban all facets of commerce and economics, because as we all know, sometimes people's lives get ruined when they foolishly invest money into something.

    Everyone banned

    Thread locked

    I've qouted this because I can't take a joke.

You missed the whole property speculation bubble then, we'd have to outlaw private property to stop that happening again. Chance of that happening?
