Gatorskins and Easton Vista SL rims

Is this a particularly bad combination or are Gatorskins always difficult to fit? I spent the best part of an hour fitting one today and I am not looking forward to fixing a puncture on the side of the road.

Gatorskin's are a nightmare. But once you know it 'can' be done, you get a fair bit quicker.

If Easton Vista SL's are anything like the Easton EA50 SL's then you could have a difficult combination on your hands. If you have cloth rimtape you could try changing to plastic tape or Continental EasyTape http://www.wiggle.co.uk/continental-rim-tape-black Since I put the Conti tape on my EA50's I have found that tyres go on a lot easier, but I haven't tried Gatorskins

I have Easton Aeros and they're an absolute pain in the a*se to get tyres on and off.

Push the bead of the tyre right into the middle of the rim when fitting. That'll give you just a bit more room.

looks like a common problem with Eastons!

i went through 5 tubes after puncturing my EA 50 SL's on sat! NIGHTmare to fit ProRace3 tyres back on!

Heat the tyres on the radiator for a bit. Don't melt the yokes though. ;)

I found mine tough initially but once they were used for a while they came on and off more easily

to be honset, its the one thing I dread while out on the roadbike, getting the tire back on after fitting a new tube. Its hard enough in my dry garage, never mind on the side of the road! MTB tyre's nearly "fall" onto the rim,and I dont even need to use tyre lever's.

I ride a 23c gator-skin on the rear wheel- Mavic Ksyrium SL
No tyre levers required for removing it:D Also no problem with Mavic open pro

Campag and Easton rims are a notoriously tight fit:eek: Try using Vitoria tyres instead

A pure dose of a job until i bought a good set of tyre levers now they pop on handy. On another note had a cut in my tyre after the maracycle so bought a new gator hardschell 23c when i put it on i noticed my front tyre looked bigger and it was a 25c i had a pair put on by my LBS a few months ago i just thought they were 23c the new tyre is now on the back the bike seems to handle perfectly am i breaking some golden rule or will it be ok to have the two different sizes on.
