Alternative Cancer Treatments?

Has anyone on here with Cancer or with Friends/relatives with Cancer ever tried any of the alternative treatments?

I had a pile of links up but I don't want this turning into a Conspiracy Theory thread.....so I'll just leave it like this and see where it goes.

Like so many others with cancer, a couple of bright sparks opined that it often was brought about by not having a positive state of mind. That's easy to say when you've not been on your hands and knees for 24 hrs heaving whatever fluids are left in your digestive tract. Chemo was a living nightmare, but it saved me.
Honestly, I don't believe there are any effective alternatives. When you can, perhaps drink freshly squeezed juice to detox, and take something to knock you out for as long as possible each day so your mind and body can repair themselves as you sleep. Good luck.

Lots of truth in your post....I've come across the knock yourself out part a few times in the last while and the positive state of mind:rolleyes:....it's terrible to think that someone could be sitting on a real cure for it somewhere.

There's a few trials that look promising involving bacteria but everything seems to be 10 years away, 10 years later it's still 10 years away.

I attended the AGM of MAC (Men Against Cancer) last May. The main speaker was Professor Louis Denis of the Oncology Centre, Antwerp and Secretary of Europa Uomo - The European Prostate Coalition.

Professor Denis said "We spent about €5 billion euro a year in Europe for preventing these prostate cancer or treating them by CAM (alternative medicine). We have no proof whatsoever that at this moment that any plant or any vitamin works in preventing prostate cancer."

There are similar findings for other forms of Cancer. Very often we read media reports of promising research involving lab animals......but, so far, without transposition to human Cancers.

Unfortunately, many charlataans peddle natural and alternative medicine "cures" to Cancer (and other illness) sufferers and we are all too willing to grasp at these straws...who wouldn't when faced with Cancer.

Imho, the breakthrough in Cancer will come with the "switching off" of the relevant genetic sequence. There is tremendous progress being made in this area.....and Ireland is to the fore in much of this. Unfortunately the fruits of such research appears years down the road (But we live in hope!!).

I personally don't know anyone who has tried antineoplaston treatment at the Burzynski Clinic but since you are looking for alternative treatment options i would suggest you research a bit about it and decide for yourself what to make of it.

No offense but I would suggest anyone with cancer disregard the suggestion above. Burzynski is one in a long LONG line of flaming quacks and frauds looking to make a buck and/or name for themselves by promoting something quite unproven. I'm heartened to see those who get this (not about him per se but all the quackery in "alt meds" in general).

That said, I continue to hope that something will come along which will prove more effective in combating ALL forms of cancer, esp those which have poor prognoses, and I don't care if it is or is called "natural" or "alternative" or not. I am well aware that so-called traditional or mainstream methods are quite far from perfect and we need something better.

But unlike some, I will not believe it works just because someone comes along and claims it does. And believe me there are tons of scum out there more than happy to take some poor naive fool's money for something they know isn't proven, even if it costs that person their life. Don't be that person.

Does anyone have an opinion on Bob Becks?

He rediscovered a.....forgotten discovery that he then altered where a person could attach a device to their wrist that sends a specific current into the artery that deactivates Aids, Herpes, Hepatitis, Bacterias, Fungi, Cancers.

He developed the Beck Protocol, designed to....heal from many angles.

Part 1 of 13 of a Lecture/talk he gave. All parts are there.

Hal - first off, I'm writing this post in an effort to help you get what you want, not to "give out" to you -

If you want to ask for people's experiences with alternative therapies, that's ok. However, if you want to post a load of links up and ask for people's opinions - that's not, unfortunately. I would have to move to CT. Unfortunately, CT is the best "fit" we have at the moment, I'm not saying the subject is bogus or anything.

Read my post above yours for my opinion.

There is no verificable, documented proof re the validity of his claims, for one; he was not a medical doctor, for another (he's a physicist). Anyone propping up his methods now is another one of many in a long line of "big pharm" conspiracy tinfoil hat wearers and/or frauds.

A good rule of thumb is the more fantastic the claims (eg "cures cancer, AIDS, measles, bad breath etc etc etc!") , the less likely it is they are true.

Never heard of this before is first thing I will say.

Second thing. If it was as simple as whacking a bit of current through yourself you would have heard about it before now. Its such a simple approach that anyone could try it. Plenty of folks with lecky-knowledge have had cancer over the years. If it worked some of them would have made it work and we all would have heard about it. This would be such a huge development it would have be impossible to ignore or suppress. Companies would have been set up to capitalise on it. Its would have such potential if there was any minor effect of it you'd be seeing these machines in every doctors office. It would simply be to big to ignore or suppress
