household chores

My job is driving me nuts with very long hours, such hours that I never signed up to in my contract. I leave my place very early in the morning for work and I dont usually get back until very late. It could be anytime from 9.30pm onwards. Hectic to say the least. Exhausting.

So I dont get around to doing any jobs or household chores during the week and it all piles up on me. Weekends, when I am lucky to get a little time off I find that I spend my time doing jobs that I should have been doing all week.
Have been up since 7, and have been cleaning all morning and I am nowhere near finished. Have clothes, dishes, trash strewn around the place. It looks like a dump truck came and tipped itself into my apartment and it is only a matter of time before rats start inviting themselves in. I find that I spend my weekends riding storms of filth.

Clean as you go, you said there is trash all over the place? Throw it into the bin - not that hard.

How about my porngraphy and fetish drawers. A housekeeper may root? How will I work around that?

    Thats what encryption is for.

Seriously, if your leaving the house real early, and not getting home until 9 or 10, then how is the house getting dirty? Aside from clothes washing, what are you doing in the few hours that you are home that the place gets in a state.

Hire a maid! I used to live with my brother, and my best friend and it cost the three of us just over €50 each to have a cleaner come in three mornings per week, do some cleaning, ironing & organising, and when we came home the house was clean and warm, bathroom spotless, dishes were washed, beds made, everything looked tidy and our clothes are hanging in our wardrobes. The only times we ever had to do any tidying was the weekend, and that was if we were in Dublin, often we would be down the country.

She even knit me a gift of bulgarian woolen shoes when she left, because we got on great with her. I don't know how much it still happens, but this was around the financial crash, when apartment blocks still had a lot of notices in their lobbies about cleaning services. If it really annoys you, perhaps you should consider it.

Aren't you lucky to have a job! Lots of people these days can't afford any form of filth not to mind storms of it!

OP, I don't understand you. If you are working such long hours who is there making this huge mess you speak of? I work full-time and am married with two kids who are now both on school hols. They make a mess and would think nothing of sitting watching me or their dad sort it out. More fool me if I let them get away with it. If someone else is making the mess get them to clean it and if you are making the mess yourself then wisen up and clean as you go.
