    hi,
would some one please explain me, cause i seems to dont understand it...
i want to upgrade my router, and i really liked the looks of an apples airport extreme router or what the f it is, im with Eircom broadband, would it be possible to hook it up? if it possible, i just take the dsl cable and plug it in to the AE? or i have to have and router connected to the socket, and my router to the AE
and also what is this time capsule thingy? is it same as a AE only with built in HDD?

I'm pretty sure you wont need to do that, worst case scenario you disable wifi on the eircom router and connect to the AE

Yes, but extremely expensive for the storage you get, if you're not going to be using the network HD functionality you're better off with an Airport express, they're cheaper and the audio port connected to the stereo/home cinema is dead handy...and you can have it connected to a printer.

yes to the 2nd question but no to the first. The router is built in. You still need a modem. I have the the time capsule, it's very good. I also had an airport extreme. Very handy for for playing music over the wifi but it jacked in after about 18 months.

well then i need my old router only for modem option... ok my last question, actually it should be my first question.. is Airport extreme any good? i mean wireless range? easy of use/setup? security? behaviour with other wireless peripherals? is it worth to pay that much for something that others sell way less cheaper and mostly the same functionallity

oh theres another thing, if i would get an apples USB modem, this is basically what i need or no?these all would look like this: i plug in my dsl cable in to the apple usb modem, the end of the usb to the Airport Extreme, and thats it? i wouldnt need my old router isn't it? so theres another question, as this apple usb modem would be connected to the one usb socket already on AE, i cant use anything else, like for exp HDD, but... perhaps some one has a usb splitter? like one usb connecton but splits in to 2 usb ports, would that work?

i found one answer to my question, yes it would work with usb splitter (usb hub) so i could connect HDD and something else (printer) but would it work if i connect USB modem???

No. The airport requires a DSL modem. you can use your existing eircom router to do that.

i see, so i think its not for me then, dont want to have bunch of stuff to do one thing, better get myself an router with modem built in.. unless the AE is really good thing and its worth to have it.. for now, the AE is good for enabling to connect externad hard disk and share it over wifi, and second the APPLE looks :) IMHO
