The wife got a laptop at xmas,an emachine, windows 7, connected to our UPC via wireless no problems and continued to work up until about 3 weeks ago. Completely lost the ability to connect to wifi. She brought it back to PC world and they sent it off, said the wifi connector had stopped working. Got it back today and still can't connect to our connection, it see's the connection, + someones nearby on Eircom but won't connect. It gives a message,Windows can't connect to this network. Brought it back to PCW and they connected via wifi no problem.
We tried unplugging the router but that hasn't changed any thing. Any help appreciated, I'm not that tech savvy but can usually manage to get around problems with pc's and such, this has me stumped though.

I had the same issue after moving house a few weeks ago. I then started the thread 'Remove unwanted WiFi connections', got some useful tips there indeed.

It seems to be the router anyway, sometimes they pick up signals from outside your house and your own router goes busted.

Anyway, you should try and change the channel for the router, how to do this is described perfectly in the thread mentioned above.

    No problem :)

Hopefully, I works for you. I guess, they did reset the modem onto a different channel.

I had two technicians here who failed, the only help I got was from some experts on this site ;)
