I couldn't find the link but I stumbled across a small paragraph buried in the Indo yesterday, a report on a group of Lithuanian tourists attacked and beaten up very badly in the Phoenix Park at the memorial stature by a group of board failte yobs. So bad were their injuries that some of the group are in St James hospital with severe head injuries - this is one sick town.

What, are incidences of tourists being attacked by locals peculiar to Dublin?

With such useless journalists and a hush hush attitude amongst editors we are lucky to hear about anything happening here.

The culprits will get a fine or suspended sentence and the authorithies will still live in denial that scummers in the city centre are costing us a lot of money in tourism. I hope the people who were attacked are not badly injured.

Yes OP, this is one sick town. 1.2 million people are really sick.

Does anyone have a link for this? Google News is returning zero on this, and all I can find on Google itself is this thread.

It's no different in other major cities.

I'm not seeing it under google or in yesterday's Indo, but maybe I am missing it, OP says it is in a small paragraph.

    OP?

My brother was robbed and beaten up in the south of France. Doesn't stop people heading there.

Ditto for all the horror stories I've heard about Barcelona.

S0crates has some inside info here.

They were three Lithuanian tourists attending a reputable language school here. Walking through the Phoenix park they were accosted by a group of approximately 13 filthbags who assaulted them after the tourists took offence to said filthbags jumping into their photographs. Their cameras and bags were not stolen and apparently they managed to get a few shots of the scum. They have since left the country but not before providing the five-oh with a detailed account of what happened. Realistically the police should be able to catch them if there are photographs with their faces, no doubt these pieces of sub-human excrement are well-known to the police. One student was close to losing the sight in one of his eyes. Lets hope they recover and and the offending parties are locked up with the key thrown away.

my mate got his head kicked in Hamburg recently. Granted it was 5am on the Reeperbahn and he was harassing hookers at the time and probably deserved his beating.
Point is, if there is one, there may have been more to it. If it even happened.

Regardless of the nationality of the people ,it's still a nasty horrible expierence for any group of people to go through , no matter what country it took place in .Saying it happens in other citys doesn't make it right ,acceptable or ok .
