I don't know why everyone hates them so much.

They're just Oasis without Noel really because Liam stated originally they would use the Oasis name if they came up with nothing by the time the album was ready.

Noel may be better than Liam but that doesn't make his brother completely talentless.

Oasis havnt been very good since the mid to late 90s. If Oasis came out in 2000 and released the music they did since then they would be considered medicore just like Beady Eye are. I think Beady Eye are just being judged on their merits. If Liam Gallagher was not front man, theres no way they would have a record deal.

Asides from that, Beady Eye is a pants name for a band.

The only thing Beady Eye compare to Oasis are the members, musically i think they are far different, which in my opinion is a good thing.

Fair play to Liam, I taught their first attempt at an album was very good, room for improvement but generally an easy to listen to album.

Also, Liam's voice hasn't been this good in years, the break did him the world of good!
Can't wait for Noel Gallaghers new album tough, think it will be the nuts!!

No, I mean a definition. Posting videos is useless. It may be hard but do your best to sum it up in words.

I suggest that gay people should not be allowed to play snooker or listen to good music.

Didn't want to post in this thread seeing as this is the Rock and Metal forum and support for a Beady Eye thread here is against ones' principles, but after having a wee look at some of the posts I believe it is only necessary. Beady Eye are Oasis Lite, and if you are one of the many people who are of the opinion that Oasis were boring, talentless, unoriginal and shit - as I am - Beady Eye are are no great shakes either.

Not to mention a ratio of their fans, who are merely the hardcore passover Oasis fans, tend to be childish, argumentative, unintelligible, congenital addle-pates who think they're the shit and anyone who doesn't like their favourite band in the world, ever, is a fucking wanker and deserves to be stabbed - despite the fact they clearly lack the taste or intelligence to make a good and accurate judgement on that.

    Notice the word ratio... :o

Not a fan of Oasis but I've always had admiration for Noel and I'm sure his first solo album will be a fine collection of songs but he already has his second in the can which is a collaboration with the Amorphous Androgynous which, if this remix is anything to go by, will be far out

Whatever he does it'll p!ss all over Beady Eye

I saw Beady Eye last week and enjoyed what I saw. I am really looking forward to seeing what Noel gives us.

Noel Gallagher's songwriting can be derided at times as formulaic and with meaningless rhymey lyrics, but I don't think it can be denied that no matter how snobby you are about your music, it's the kind of good simple stuff that's universally enjoyable.

The likes of U2 have made careers on formulaic and simple music that appeals to a wide base of fans. If it was as simple as people think to come up with that kind of music, then we would be awash with ultra-popular bands using simple riffs and tunes to hold the public attention. But we're not. Most bands get an album or two and then fade away.
So clearly there is something more in it, that only a handful of bands are capable of grabbing public attention through simple melodies.

As I heard someone else say elsewhere, Noel Gallagher wrote a collection of B-sides for Oasis's singles, that another band could make an entire career out of.
Liam on the other hand, attempted to follow the same lines, but has failed. Dismally. None of the stuff written for Oasis by Liam compared even to Noel's mediocre stuff. I believe that Oasis were popular some ways in spite of Liam as frontman, as Noel was always a superior vocalist and had a better repore with the crowds.

There may be more posts similar to the above in this thread but frankly I've read enough of them already. Now, correct me if I'm wrong but this forum's name is Rock & Metal right? Now, correct me if I'm wrong but Beady Eye are a rock band right? So if the previous two statements are correct why are people complaining? Should we only be discussing bands that don't make it into the charts or that aren't considered pop or something? Has there been a sudden outbreak of elitism-itis?

Lastly and more fundamentally, if you don't like a thread you don't have to post in it, just report it and someone in a moderator capacity will come along and review it. For the record I have currently received a sum total of zero reported posts about this thread.

Just wondering would there by any chance of getting an indie forum? Should bands like Oasis, U2, Snow Patrol..... be discused in Rock-Metal forum? Throwing them in with the likes of Metallica and Remmstein is prob not the best idea as most metal heads HATE bands like that and I cant imagine too many soft rock/indie fans would be looking in this forum!

Exactly. U2 seem to get a lot of stick, I dont understand why. People slate the edge, again I dont know why.

    You mean like this?
Should bands like Oasis, U2, Snow Patrol..... be discused in Rock-Metal forum?
Why not? They're rock bands aren't they? I see your point that it's difficult to draw a line with some bands and define where they belong. and say this band Bands like Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, The Pixies and probably loads more could be discussed in Alt & Indie as well as here (and probably are).
most metal heads HATE bands like that and I cant imagine too many soft rock/indie fans would be looking in this forum!
Not in my experience unless they're just elitists and in that case they probably only like Eastern-Norwegian-Raw-Avant Garde Black-Metal, all the other genres are crap.

Metal fans by their nature have to be more accommodating towards other genres because they are exposed to them far more than fans of other genres are exposed to metal (if you know what I mean :)).

Or maybe I'm completely in the minority and we really should look at splitting the forums again?

    Good points.
I think its mainly older metal fans that are more accommodating. most (not all) teenage metal fans (myself included when I was a teenager!) think the only music that good is metal!

Didn't mean to come across as a snob, but I am firmly of the opinion that Beady Eye are not a Rock band, Indie-Pop would be more appropriate - in which case Malice is probably right and we should have reported it, but it wouldn't appear that there's much of a chance of it getting moved.

Inspite of my comments about Beady Eye, which were fully justified, I agree totally with the posts above, Metal fans for the most part are the most inclined to be all-round music fans, I myself have considered myself one throughout my gawson years, and I'm still young and youthful. :) I listen to everything, and I'd rather have it no other way because I makes me more openminded, it affects my opinions positively in a more fair and considered manner - I find it allows one to know what is what, no matter the genre. If that makes me an elitist, then so be it, you got me!

I can understand the type of people that this band/Oasis appeal to and I also understand why it appeals to them. Whilst knowingly appreciating where they got themselves and how they got there, there's numerous aspects of them that I can't like. But even if they were a Rock band this forum wouldn't be the right place for them mainly due to the forums' occupants, it would be far more suited elsewhere, maybe a merger with the Beady Eye threads in the general Music forum, and probably Alt/Indie but I wouldn't bank on that one.

Apologies for the apparant snobbery, I can't help being right. ;)
I hope for the sake of mankind that people realise I am joking!

I have no sympathy for fools like that.

When I saw them at Rock Werchter there was one twat behind me who kept shouting Oasis. She soon got bored and left.

I went along without listening to them and watched it at oxegen just cause there was nothing much else and they were on before artic monkeys. I was pretty bored really and it wasn't exactly wedged. I'm assuming the olympia shows were much better? Cause that didn't really seem like a band deserving that much hype/that main stage slot.

Saw them at Oxegen and wasn't expecting much. I found them very boring to be honest. I think the Oasis/novelty factor will wear off song enough; they wont make a successful career with that standard of material.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,647 ✭✭✭✭Fago!

Seen them at Oxegen too. Very boring. I never liked him when he was in Oasis, but gave him a chance with this new band. Still don't like him. Boring, repetative songs, and there was wayyy too many delay/echo effects on his microphone at Oxegen.

I particularly liked the part at the Oxegen gig when people boo'd and threw stuff at Liam and he just goes "I dunno why you're throwing **** you pricks, it's gonna get you nowhere"
