I want Moncrieff back on the telly. TV3 needs to ditch Vincent Brownes atrocious friday night show and set Moncrieff up with a comedy panel show. That or RTE give Miriam the boot and set him up there. Why isnt he on my telly ??

I second that. Always liked Sean.

Yes Friday evening slot would be ideal for the summer, especially with RTÉ having no other live chat show to go against it. The workhorse that is Vinnie B could be given a well deserved rest.

    13.30 till 16.30 Mon - Fri, Newstalk.

I'd love to see him back on the box too.

Head to head with Tubridy on Friday nights.

The only thing that really worked for Sean on the box was his first TV gig, The End. It was low budget, anarchic and daring for RTE/Net2.

He's been ill-served by subsequent efforts, Good Grief Moncrieff, the execrable Don't Feed the Gondolas and that odd property related quiz show I've thankfully largely forgotten.
The End (first broadcast September 1993) is an adult comedy television strand on Network Two/RTÉ Two in the Republic of Ireland.
The End was aired on Friday and Saturday night from 11pm to 2am. RTÉ used this show to test the audience appetite for late night TV. The End was presented by Barry Murphy on Friday nights and by Sean Moncrieff on Saturday nights. The End had a cult following of "drunks and teenagers" who would often ring into the show leaving bizarre late night messages for the presenters. Sean Moncrieff would be joined by a puppet called Septic in later seasons.

Dont feed the gondolas was a great show. I dont think I've seen as good a panel show on RTE bar the panel when Dara O'Brien was at the helm. Every so often they try and come up with one and it flops big time like that one with the Apres match guy. Good in theory but died on TV. Dont feed the gondolas style show with the panel consisting of decent comedians would go down a treat. They just have to make a conscious effort to keep the likes of Twink, Linda Martin and the other usual rubbish well away from it.

I think the time is perfect for Tv3 to have a serious go at friday night entertainment. Keeping Vincent Browne around for an extra day is just pointless.

He narrates that celebrity dining thing on RTE, can't think of the name of it.

I wish I had some clips of 'Good Grief Moncrieff' to post everytime someone says he should get his own Talk Show.

He had his own Talk Show and it was dire, even by RTE standards. It made Tubridy look like Johnny Carson.

Maybe he would be much better, given another chance, but he deserves his time in purgatory for that debacle.

Thats a bit harsh, that embarrassing failure took place over a decade ago. If people can forgive Dara O Brien for that crappy family quiz show with the Shredder then it's about time we let go of Good Grief Moncrieff.

I have and I expected it to be one of those things that was great at the time but looking at it now is crap. But I still find it pretty good.

His format on newstalk would translate well to TV as a talk show.
(compressed to an hour that is)

I think this is a great idea.
When he does Movies and Booze on location in front of an audience it works really well. There are lots of laughs and banter, so I see how it would translate to telly.

I would LOVE to see some of the guests he chats to on telly!!

Not sure why Moncrief comes in for so much flak? I like his radio show. I suppose sometimes, it's kinda too quirky for quirky sake, but overall I like it, and I think he is a good presenter as well..
I remember before Newstalk went national, anytime I was in Dublin, I would make sure to tune in to his show. I would listen to it most days, and would listen to Newstalk most days. For me, it was a God send that it went national. Hopefully it will be around for years to come....

I think he would make a good tv presenter. One could say the same about Tubridy and O Connor, faces made for radio....

Would love to see Sean Moncrieff do the LLS. He is such a natural when it comes to good old fashioned conversation. Guests on his radio show always seem at ease with him and I like his brand of wit, he's a naturally funny guy.

He is everything Tubridy is not. Cue cards never make for a natural, free flowing conversation. I can't imagine Moncrieff gunning for the misery porn angle that Tubridy employs week in, week out either.

He might actually bring some light entertainment to a light entertainment show. Imagine that...being actually entertained by the LLS.

i loved The End when it was on Network 2, but Moncrieff can do some woeful interviews on Newstalk - the Rubberbandits one on Friday was just terrible. Think he should stick to radio, he's best when discussing random stuff people text in with, or touching on the days news. Nobody could make the late late work in its current format....but if pushed i'd give it to Bill O'Herlihy.
