Just wondering what is your party in various RPGs end game?

    FFVI
    Terra/Edgar/Sabin/Celes

    FFVII
    I have Cloud/Tifa/Yuffie or Cloud/Tifa/Cid

    FFVIII
    Squall/Rinoa/Selphie

    FFIX
    Zidane/Dagger/Vivi/Freya

    FFX
    Tidus/Yuna/Rikku

    FFXIII
    Lighting/Fang/Vanille

    Legend of Dragoon
    Dart/Albert/Meru

That's pretty much all the JRPGs I can think off the top of my head. What about you guys?

I would never have a FFIX party without Quina (except when unavailable). If used properly (i.e. eat everything you can to learn their skills) he/she was godlike. Can get amazingly powerful moves quite early in the game (matra magic, auto-life, mighty guard, white wind).

    Oh hey Terry! o/

Yeah Quina is easily the best in FFIX, but I didn't really use it in my party. Freya saved me so many times through out the story with her Reis Wind. I still used Dagger even though she went through her "silenced period" just purely to level up her abilities. Zidane is quite powerful too with his Thievery but I think Freya is more versatile since she also can do 9999 with Dragon's Crest and have other useful abilities on hand

    Hey, didn't think you'd recognise me :p

What time is it over there?! For me freya fell into the joined-the-party-too-late category so I never bothered to level him up. I usually just stick with people who have higher levels!

Also, I was a huge fan of auron in FFX. Mainly because he looked cool etc

Fun fact: my username comes from the aeon anima from FFX, hence animaX

Ah yeah I guessed Anima from FFX but I never thought the X would be from FFX >.<

Ah I just heard of you from the other lads in the sf.ie chat, I think you left as I came into the scene.

Yeah FFX is one of my favorite games of all time. I'm thinking of doing a 2nd playthrough soon, FFX just nails everything perfectly

Level him up? Freya is a she. :p

    FFVII:
    Cloud/Tifa/Vincent.

    FVIII:
    Squall/Zell/Rinoa.

    FFIX:
    Zidane/Vivi/Dagger/Steiner.

    FFX:
    Everyone except for Kimahri.

    FFXIII:
    Lightning/Sazh/Vanille.

    To add to that list.

    Star Ocean 3:
    Fayt, Albel, Sophia.

    Persona 3:
    MC/Aigis/Akihiko/Mitsuru.

    Persona 4:
    MC/Yosuke/Chie/Yukiko.

    Tales of Symphonia:
    Presea/Lloyd/Regal/Raine.

There's more to that list, but that's all that come to mind right now.

Ah that reminds me, I must play the Persona and Star Ocean series

Skip Star Ocean and start with Persona 3. Then thank me later :)

I never have a favourite party in JRPGs. I level everyone up equally and try to use them all equally. Makes it more interesting.

I'll presume you mean 3:FES and agree but I'd say Star Ocean 3 is worth playing.

I love the thought of using everyone but I just don't have the time. The appeal of trying out a new party also adds to a games replay value.

In any game I've played where I've levelled up every party member equally I've had no problem getting through the game and had no need to grind. The exception would be FF Tactics but that game is so difficult you really need to get a small specialised party together early.

Ah, I've confused Freya with the red haired thing. Amarant or something?

Yep Amarant, not really a fan of him. Don't like his character/design.

FFVII - cloud, red VIII, barrett (brute force and aggresion.)

FFX - tidus, riku, waka (speed, speed, speed, essential if you want to beat the dark aeons.)

they were the best 2 games imho although I have played most the rest.

Quina is by far the best character in FFIX.

Auto-Life and Limit Glove combo is lethal.

    I'm detecting a theme.

I'm detecting a lack of FFXII :pac:

    skipping FFXI is understandable!

I always seems to feel in the minority...its not my favorite but i really enjoyed FFXII. It felt like an interesting mix of western and Japanese rpgs. Maybe thats why it didnt work for most. If a game trys to be too many things its master of none ^_^

It was interesting and a good idea but ultimately I just didn't enjoy it at all. That battle system really needed a lot more work to make it more engaging and strategic. I just found myself bored during the long treks from one locale to the next. I'm looking forward to Last Story and Xenoblade which I've heard described as FFXII except with a battle system that works.

I agree with them all other than Gau. I got an enemy skill for him that had him throwing out either Flare or an extremely powerful wind attack at enemies that hit all of them.

I finished Suikoden 2 recently and I fell in love with it, already considering doing a 2nd playthrough

    I had Riou/Nanami/Wakaba/Millie/Meg/Nina

    End game spoilers
I replaced Nanami with Kasumi, I was quite upset at her death

It's an amazing game that unfortunately few people have played. Wonderful story as well.
